Chest Pain – A Medical Emergency
Chest pain may present suddenly as a heavy, tight, squeezing, or burning sensation in the chest. It can radiate to the neck, jaw, back, shoulders, or arms and may be associated with shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, nausea, or palpitations.
If chest pain is severe, persistent, or associated with breathing difficulty, immediate medical attention is essential. Do not waste valuable time. Call us immediately for guidance and assistance.
While waiting for medical help:
Keep the patient calm and at rest.
Loosen tight clothing.
Help the patient maintain a comfortable position to ease breathing.
Avoid unnecessary physical activity.
One common cause of serious chest pain is ischemic heart disease, where the heart muscle receives an inadequate supply of oxygen due to reduced blood flow through the coronary arteries.
For diagnosis and further treatment, the following investigations are essential:
Electrocardiogram (ECG) – to assess the electrical activity of the heart.
Cardiac blood markers (Troponin and related tests) – to detect heart muscle injury.
Additional investigations as advised by the treating physician.
For emergency consultation and guidance, contact us immediately. Early recognition and prompt treatment can save lives. ❤️🩺
