Loose stools

Loose stools are often the body's reaction to an infection, contaminated food, or other irritants in the digestive system. Check whether the stools are watery, semi-solid, or contain mucus, pus, or blood. Also note if there is an associated fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, or other symptoms.

Frequent loose stools can lead to dehydration, especially in children and older adults. Common causes include food contamination, poor kitchen hygiene, viral or bacterial infections, and digestive disorders.

To prevent dehydration, drink plenty of fluids such as Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), king coconut water, or other safe fluids. Maintain good hygiene and avoid foods that may worsen symptoms.

If symptoms are severe, persistent, associated with blood in the stool, high fever, signs of dehydration, or if you are concerned about your condition, seek medical attention promptly.
